Plate heat exchangers are far more efficient and compact than heat exchangers based on tubes. Airec delivers unique customer values with superior plate heat exchanger designs for applications where existing plate heat exchangers cannot be used. These are typically asymmetrical flow configurations (e.g. gas/liquid) and applications with high gas temperatures.

Plate heat exchangers can normally handle gas temperatures only up to 200 °C. Airec´s unique and IP-protected designs, which utilize the liquid’s cooling capacity, provide efficiency over an extended service life even with gas temperatures around 600 °C. For special applications, such as boilers and water heaters, temperatures above 1400 °C are possible.
Other plate heat exchangers cannot handle asymmetrical designs (one low-flow/high-density medium, one high-flow/low-density). Typical asymmetrical applications include gas-to-liquid heat transfer. For such applications, the Airec design has a much lower pressure drop compared with other plate heat exchangers. The efficiency is higher, and the space saving is normally around 90% compared with tube heat exchangers.
Superior condensing capacity
Airec’s plate heat exchanger designs offer much higher condensing performance. When a gas is cooled below its saturation point, the condensation that occurs results in a large energy transfer. The Airec design has uniquely high condensing capacity on the plate surfaces. Even with the gas temperature above the dew point, partial condensation can be obtained inside the heat exchanger.
